Petaluma, California (May 4, 2017) — Optio Solutions, an accounts receivable management firm, furthered its tradition of community giving by participating in the 2017 Collectors Challenge, a month-long program launched on April 1 by ACA International to raise money for the ACA Education Foundation. Optio employees donated a total of $1455 to the Collectors Challenge with each participant qualifying for casual dress days over the entire month.
Credit and collections professionals support the ACA International Education Foundation’s scholarship program every April using a variety of fundraisers efforts such as bake sales, car washes, contests, dress-down days, raffles and walk/run/bike-a-thons. Founded in 1995, the ACA International Education Foundation is the philanthropic arm of ACA International.
“Optio is committed to giving back, while caring deeply about our employees and their respective communities,” said President and CEO Chris Schumacher. “Our organization believes in helping the ACA Education Foundation expand its scholarship program while raising awareness about the contribution of credit and collections to the US economy.”
About the ACA Education Foundation
Money raised through the ACA Collectors Challenge allows the ACA Education Foundation to expand its efforts in financial education and instills a more positive public image of the industry. The foundation has two primary education initiatives:
- ACA International Loomer Mortenson Education Scholarship Program — a scholarship advancing the higher education of people connected to the credit and collection industry.
- Foundation Fellow Award — presented each year to recognize the individual or company that made the most significant contribution in support of the foundation and its goals.
In other community service, Optio employees take an active role in holiday food drives that aggregate turkeys and fill barrels of food for Committee on the Shelterless (COTS) in Petaluma and its Thanksgiving Day turkey drive partner, the Redwood Empire Food Bank. The staff also supports the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the ALS Ice Bucket challenge and more.
Optio was recognized by the California Association of Collectors with its 2014 Outstanding Community Service Award.
ACA International, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals, is the comprehensive, knowledge-based resource for success in the credit and collection industry. Founded in 1939, ACA brings together third-party collection agencies, law firms, asset buying companies, creditors and vendor affiliates, representing more than 230,000 industry employees. ACA establishes ethical standards, produces a wide variety of products, services and publications, and articulates the value of the credit and collection industry to businesses, policymakers and consumers.
